The shape of the service area, not just a list of names
NextPoint works within a short drive of Ocean Grove. Drawn on a map that reaches south west to Queenscliff, north west along the coast to Portarlington and inland to Queenscliff, south east to St Leonards where the Mary River meets the passage, and it takes in all of the acreage country in between at Curlewis, Wallington and Wallington.
The boundary is not a marketing circle. It is the distance we can cover and still arrive when we said we would. Beyond it the driving starts eating the day, and a booking made in the morning turns into an apology in the afternoon. Inside it you get a real date and a real window, and there is no call out fee wherever in the area you are, rather than a price loaded up because you live further out.
The suburbs below are grouped the way the coast actually runs rather than alphabetically, because what your house needs has more to do with which part of the bay you are on than what the street is called.
What actually changes from one end of the area to the other
Salt. Exposure is not even across the Bellarine. It is heaviest on the western headland at Point Lonsdale and along the beachfront strip, still real at Clifton Springs, Portarlington and Wallington, and it drops away quickly once you are behind the first few streets. Inland at Drysdale or Wallington it stops driving decisions. Near the water it decides which outdoor fittings we use and where an air conditioner's outdoor unit should be mounted, because a sheltered wall can be the difference between fifteen years and four.
Housing age. The old grid behind Drysdale, Ocean Grove and Point Lonsdale is largely pre-1980, and a fair share of it still has ceramic rewirable fuses and no residual current device, which means nothing on those circuits trips fast enough to protect a person. The estates at Drysdale, Leopold and Leopold are 1990s and later and usually start from a sound board. Queenscliff sits at the older end again, with high-set timber homes where the wiring has been extended under the house more than once and the meter box has been moved at some point.
Acreage. On the blocks at Curlewis, Wallington, Marcus Hill and Connewarre, the supply often comes in on a private pole that the owner is responsible for, then runs a long way underground to the house, and further again to a shed. Long runs mean voltage drop, so cable size matters more than it does on a suburban block, and a fault can be anywhere along a hundred metres of trench rather than in a wall. Private poles also rot, and nobody tells you that until something leans.

Travel, and what happens if you are just outside
There is no separate travel charge inside the 35 km. Work out at Queenscliff, Portarlington or Clifton Springs is usually put on a day where there is other work in the same direction, so if your job is not urgent you may be offered a day rather than a choice of days. Say so if that does not suit and we will find another one.
If you are outside the radius, ring 1300 322 320 and ask rather than assuming the answer is no. Sometimes it depends on the week, what else is booked out that way and how big the job is. What you will get is a straight yes or a straight no on the phone, not a maybe that turns into nobody arriving.

Do you charge more to come to the outer suburbs?
No. There is no call out fee anywhere inside a short drive of Ocean Grove, and no distance loading added to the price of the work. Clifton Springs, Queenscliff, St Leonards and Queenscliff are priced the same way as Drysdale. What changes further out is not the price, it is the scheduling, because a day with two jobs at opposite ends of the Bellarine does not work for anyone.
My suburb is not on the list. Are you still able to come?
Possibly. The list covers the places we work most, not every locality on the Bellarine, and there are small pockets between these suburbs that are well inside the radius. Ring 1300 322 320 with your street and suburb and you will get an answer in a sentence. If you are genuinely outside the area, we will say so rather than quoting a job we cannot service properly, and there is no charge for asking.
How soon can you get to Queenscliff?
Queenscliff is a booked day rather than a drop in, because it is the far corner of the area. That usually means you are offered a specific day in the week ahead rather than the same afternoon. Emergencies are handled differently, so if you have no power to part of the house or something has burnt out, say that first on the call. Booked work and urgent work do not sit in the same queue.
Do you do the same work everywhere in the area?
Yes. Split systems, smoke alarms, ceiling fans, chargers, lighting, power points, switchboards and fault finding are all available across the whole area, and the lifetime workmanship warranty applies wherever the job was. The only thing that varies by location is what the house needs, which is why each suburb has its own page rather than the same page with the name swapped.
