Luke did a great job and was very flexible and understanding of our needs. He listened and was very helpful in explaining answers to our questions. I would highly recommend his work.

SPStephen PoorePosted on Google★★★★★

Luke was on time, considerate upon entering the house, and has a pleasant, friendly manner. He also gave excellent advice and suggestions/options for solving the problem, without "pushing" for one or the other. NEXTPOINT Electrics is to be highly recommended.

Luke at NextPoint was fantastic. Arrived on time both times he's done work, texted first to say he was on his way. Very quick, efficient and tidy with both jobs and a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend and will definitely use him again.

Why Breakwater locals choose us

You Deserve an Electrician You Can Actually Trust

We do the houses, not the works

This suburb has always been more industry than housing. Domestic work is what we do, and we would rather tell you straight that something sits outside that than have a go at it.

Electrician Breakwater FAQ

Do you actually cover Breakwater?

Yes. It is a short run across for us from Ocean Grove, and it carries no distance loading. There is no call out fee and no distance loading.

Which parts of Breakwater do you cover?

All of it, the whole 3219 postcode, and the neighbouring towns with it. The residential streets as well as the rest, and none of it far enough out to charge you extra for.

How quickly can you get to Breakwater?

It is a short run across for us from Ocean Grove, and it carries no distance loading. We do not promise a set response time, but you get a straight answer on the phone and a time on the day rather than an all day window.

Is there anything particular about this part of Geelong?

Breakwater is mostly not houses. There are only about 545 private dwellings in the whole suburb, which runs from the showground to the Barwon, and the population peaked around 1,521 in 1981 and has fallen since. What is here alongside the housing is industrial land, and that has been true since the wool scours and tanneries. The residential pocket that does exist has the highest flat share of the nearby suburbs at about 14 per cent. Worth saying plainly: we do domestic work. If a job is an industrial or commercial installation we will say so rather than taking it on.

About Breakwater

Breakwater is named for the weir built across the Barwon to stop tidal salt water reaching Geelong's supply, put there in the late 1830s or mid 1840s depending on which record you follow. A post office operated here from 1867 to 1982.

Wool and hide made the place. There were wool scours, fellmongering works treating sheep skins, and tanneries, with workers living within walking distance of their employment. The street names still carry it: Fellmongers Road, Leather Street, Tucker Street. The Sunnyside Wool Scour on Tucker Street dates from 1867, is on the Victorian Heritage Register, and holds extensive nineteenth century equipment including rare chimney stacks bearing the owner's insignia.

Then came the showground and the racecourse. The Geelong showground opened here and the racecourse in 1908, with the first Geelong Racing Club meeting in December that year. The Geelong Cup is run on it each October and the course hosts around twenty-one meetings a year.

The other landmark is the Barwon sewer aqueduct on Leather Street, fourteen spans over 750 metres of reinforced concrete built between 1913 and 1915 and decommissioned in 1972. It is on the Victorian Heritage Register, though Heritage Victoria approved its demolition in 2026 on structural grounds, so it may not be standing by the time you read this.

The practical version for a Breakwater owner: this is a small residential pocket in a largely industrial suburb, so tell us the street when you ring and we will know roughly what we are coming to.

If you are near the river, anything mounted outside is worth specifying properly rather than to a general standard.
