Less than on the beachfront, but more than people expect. The bigger factor on a block around Leopold is distance. Long cable runs mean voltage drop, so cable size matters more than it does on a suburban block, and a fault can be anywhere along the run rather than in a wall.

About Leopold
Leopold sits 11 km east of Geelong and is the gateway to the Bellarine, the town most people drive through on the way down the peninsula. It has been growing steadily, with estates including Kensington, Estuary, Debonair Heights and Gateway building out.
The result is a town with two distinct halves electrically. Established streets where the housing is old enough to have ceramic fuses, no safety switch and a board with nothing spare on it, and new estate housing wired to current standards and already having things added to it.
In the older half the switchboard is usually the first thing worth looking at. In the newer half the question is capacity: what the board can carry before an EV charger, a second split system or a workshop goes on it, which is a much cheaper question to ask once than to answer twice.
The practical version for a Leopold owner: work out which half you are in. If the house predates the estates, the board is the first question and everything else waits behind it.
If you are in Kensington, Estuary, Debonair Heights or Gateway, the board is new and the question is what it will carry. Planning the charger, the air conditioning and the shed in one go is materially cheaper than adding them one at a time.
