Luke was on time, considerate upon entering the house, and has a pleasant, friendly manner. He also gave excellent advice and suggestions/options for solving the problem, without "pushing" for one or the other. NEXTPOINT Electrics is to be highly recommended.

Luke at NextPoint was fantastic. Arrived on time both times he's done work, texted first to say he was on his way. Very quick, efficient and tidy with both jobs and a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend and will definitely use him again.

Electrician Clifton Springs FAQ

Do you actually cover Clifton Springs?

Yes. We are based in Ocean Grove, a straight run up the peninsula, so there is no travel time on the bill and no distance loading. There is no call out fee and no distance loading.

Which parts of Clifton Springs do you cover?

All of it, the whole 3222 postcode, and the neighbouring towns with it. Nowhere in Clifton Springs is far enough from us to be worth charging you extra for.

How quickly can you get to Clifton Springs?

We are based in Ocean Grove, a straight run up the peninsula, so there is no travel time on the bill and no distance loading. We do not promise a set response time, but you get a straight answer on the phone and a time on the day rather than an all day window.

Does being this close to the water change anything?

Outside, yes. Clifton Springs faces Corio Bay rather than open water, so it is slower than the surf coast but it is still constant. Salt corrodes metal and it does not need to be sea spray to do it: outdoor power points, light fittings, switchboard enclosures and the screws holding them up all age faster here than they do inland. What fails is usually the fixing or the seal rather than the fitting itself.

About Clifton Springs

Clifton Springs looks north over Corio Bay to the You Yangs, about 22 km east of Geelong. It began as a resort after mineral springs were found here in 1870, with a hotel, bathing houses and steamers running down from Geelong.

Almost nothing of the town today is from that period. The population was 146 in 1966 and over 7,500 by 2016, so the overwhelming majority of the housing is post-1960s subdivision, with new building still going on along the northern edge. That is a useful thing to know: most of what we open here is from a decade where the wiring was sound for its time and is now carrying three times what it was designed for.

It is also a bay-facing town, so the exposure is real even though it is not surf coast. Anything mounted outside gets specified for salt rather than treated as an afterthought, because the fixings and the seals are what go first.

The practical version for a Clifton Springs owner: most houses here are from a period where the wiring was correct for its time and has since been asked to do far more. Nothing about that is alarming, but it is why the board is usually where the answer starts.

It is also why capacity is worth checking before you add anything big. A board that has coped for forty years can still be the thing that stops you putting in a charger.
