What the work covers

Split System Work We Do Most

Supply and install, or just the electrical side if you have already bought the unit. Either way it is specified for this coast.

Supply and install

We source the unit, size it to the room and install it. One price covering the lot, agreed before anything starts.

Electrical side only

Already bought the unit, or having it supplied by someone else? We do the circuit, the isolation and the connection.

Dedicated circuit and isolation

A split needs its own circuit and an isolator you can actually reach. Spurring it off a lighting run is how people get in trouble.

Replacing an old unit

Old head and outdoor unit out, new one in. The existing circuit gets checked rather than assumed to still be right.

Salt and the outdoor unit

Near the water, the outdoor unit and its bracket age faster than the compressor does. Positioning and fixings matter as much as the brand.

Fans and cooling together

A fan moving air lets you sit at a higher set temperature. Often the cheaper half of the answer, and worth pricing alongside.

Not sure what size, or whether your board will take one? Ring and describe the room. Most of it can be sorted on the phone.

Specified for the coast

Anything mounted outside here sits in salt air year round. Brackets, fixings and positioning get specified for that, not treated as an afterthought.

Licensed, every time

Registered electrical contractor REC 346464. Whoever turns up is licensed, insured and working to the same standard.

Every split we install gets its own circuit, proper isolation, and our lifetime workmanship warranty on the electrical work.

How we work

Our Process

  1. You ring and describe it

The room, the wall you have in mind, and what is on your switchboard. Most split jobs can be priced from that.

  2. We confirm on the day

We check the wall, the cable route and the board before anything is drilled. If it is different from expected, you hear the new price first.

  3. We install and test it

Unit mounted, circuit run, isolator fitted, everything tested and the site left clean.

  4. Guaranteed for life

Our lifetime workmanship warranty covers the electrical work. If it is not right we come back and put it right.

On every job, no exceptions

We come out, look at it and price it. That visit costs you nothing.

  • Fixed Price before we start

  • Lifetime Workmanship warranty

If our work is not right we come back and put it right at no charge. No expiry.

Luke installed a split system air conditioner and ceiling fans in my home, efficiently and cleanly. I found his work to be of an excellent standard with everything left spotless afterwards. He was professional, punctual, and reliable with reasonable pricing. I would highly recommend him.

I've just had Luke from Nextpoint Electrics come and do the electrics on my air conditioner installation. He was very efficient at his job, but the thing I liked was he was a really nice person, which is becoming a rare thing these days. He explained everything in clear and simple terms. If you're looking for a reliable well priced electrician you won't go past Nextpoint and Luke.

Split system questions

Asked most often

What size unit does my room need?

Room area is the starting point, not the answer. A rough guide used across the trade is around 0.15 kW of cooling capacity per square metre of floor, so a 20 square metre bedroom lands near 3 kW. Then it moves: west-facing glass, a raked ceiling, poor insulation, a room that opens into the living area, or a Colorbond roof with no sarking all push it up. Oversizing is a real mistake, not a safe one, because an oversized unit cools fast, shuts off, and never runs long enough to pull the humidity out. In Geelong humidity is usually what makes the room uncomfortable, so a unit that is slightly small and runs steadily beats one that is too big and cycles.

Can the outdoor unit go anywhere I like?

Almost. The limits are pipe run length between the two units, which is set by the manufacturer and usually sits somewhere between 15 and 25 metres for a domestic single head, height difference between indoor and outdoor, clearance for the fan to discharge without blowing straight into a fence, somewhere for the condensate to drain, and noise. That last one matters more than people expect: an outdoor unit directly under a neighbour's bedroom window is a fixable problem before installation and an unfixable one after.

My switchboard is full. Does that stop the job?

No, but it changes the price and you should hear about it before you commit. The usual paths are a switchboard upgrade, or fitting a compact circuit breaker where space allows. What matters is that the new circuit ends up protected by a safety switch. If someone quotes you an air conditioner install off a full board with no mention of the board, they either have not looked at it or they are planning to leave the circuit unprotected.

Do you supply the unit or do I buy it?

Either. We supply and install, and we also install units customers have already bought. Supplying it ourselves means one warranty conversation instead of two if something goes wrong, which is worth something. Buying it yourself in a sale can be cheaper. Tell us which way you want to go when you ring and the quote will reflect it.

How long does an install take?

A straightforward back-to-back single head unit is most of a day. Add a long pipe run through a roof space, a two-storey wall, or switchboard work and it moves into a second day. We will tell you which one yours is when we look at it, and if it is going to run into a second day you will know before we start rather than at 4pm.

Do you service the whole the Bellarine for this?

Yes, within a short drive of Ocean Grove. That covers Drysdale, Leopold, Torquay, Barwon Heads, Queenscliff and everywhere on the service areas page.

Still deciding? Ring and tell us what you have got, and we will tell you what it needs.
