Luke did a great job and was very flexible and understanding of our needs. He listened and was very helpful in explaining answers to our questions. I would highly recommend his work.

SPStephen PoorePosted on Google★★★★★

Luke was on time, considerate upon entering the house, and has a pleasant, friendly manner. He also gave excellent advice and suggestions/options for solving the problem, without "pushing" for one or the other. NEXTPOINT Electrics is to be highly recommended.

Luke at NextPoint was fantastic. Arrived on time both times he's done work, texted first to say he was on his way. Very quick, efficient and tidy with both jobs and a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend and will definitely use him again.

Electrician Rippleside FAQ

Do you actually cover Rippleside?

Yes. We come up through Geelong from Ocean Grove, and it carries no distance loading. There is no call out fee and no distance loading.

Which parts of Rippleside do you cover?

All of it, the whole 3215 postcode, and the neighbouring towns with it. All of it, the old cottages and the new quay alike, and none of it far enough out to charge you extra for.

How quickly can you get to Rippleside?

We come up through Geelong from Ocean Grove, and it carries no distance loading. We do not promise a set response time, but you get a straight answer on the phone and a time on the day rather than an all day window.

Does being this close to the bay change anything?

It does, and there is a second thing going on here as well. Anything mounted outside on a bay-facing wall is in salt air all year, and what fails is usually the fixing or the seal rather than the fitting. But Rippleside is also changing fast: the share of freestanding houses fell from about 78 per cent to 70 per cent between 2016 and 2021 as the old shipyard site was redeveloped into townhouses and a marina. So the suburb now holds Edwardian timber cottages and brand new attached housing within a few hundred metres of each other.

About Rippleside

Rippleside is one of two small beachfront pockets on the western side of Corio Bay. There was a hotel and general store here by 1854, and the Melbourne to Geelong railway completed in 1857 runs along its western edge.

It was first subdivided by a Melbourne auctioneer in the mid-1890s, which dates the housing: Edwardian detached timber, with some earlier Victorian examples, largely built as workers cottages on small blocks. The heritage area covering Drumcondra and Rippleside notes what sets the Rippleside side apart, smaller blocks and plainer houses than its neighbour, and a network of rear lanes with bluestone crossovers servicing every allotment.

The shipyard was the industry here, and its site between the church and the park has been redeveloped as Balmoral Quay with more than fifty townhouses, a marina and a boardwalk. The beach was refurbished and the Bay Trail extended in January 2018.

The census figures show the change. The population rose from 875 in 2016 to 994 in 2021, the sharpest five year rise of the inner suburbs, while the share of freestanding houses fell eight points. The median age is 47, older than most of Geelong, across 459 dwellings in total.

The practical version for a Rippleside owner: on a bay-facing wall, specify outdoor gear for the position rather than to a general standard.

If your block is served by a rear lane, mention it. Access from the back is often easier than from the front here and it changes how we plan a job.
