Does being out on acreage change anything?
It changes the practical side a great deal. There were 266 people and 95 private dwellings across the whole of Ceres at the 2021 census, which tells you what the blocks are like. On a holding rather than a suburban block, the distance from the meter to the shed, the pump or the second dwelling is the thing that matters. Long runs mean voltage drop, so cable size matters more than it does in town, and a fault can be anywhere along the run rather than in a wall. A private pole is also your asset rather than the network's, and nobody sends you a reminder about it.

About Ceres
Ceres is a village on a summit of the Barrabool Hills, named after the Roman goddess of agriculture when David Fisher advertised a village section here in March 1850. The Wheat Sheaf Inn opened that September, there were three hotels by 1856, and the primary school opened in 1875 and is still running.
It was a wheat district first and then a wine one. Grapes were being grown from 1842, and around 1863 the Ceres and Barrabool area had twenty-nine vineyards. The Barrabool Hills were the main source of wine grapes in Victoria until phylloxera was detected in 1877 and destroyed the industry by 1882. Planting did not resume until the 1970s.
The other local material is the stone. Barrabool sandstone, a greenish freestone, was quarried here from the 1850s and used in notable buildings in Geelong and Melbourne, and a number of the cottages and homesteads around Ceres are built of it. Seven places here carry heritage overlay entries, several of them sandstone cottages on Barrabool Road, and the National Trust classified the Barrabool Hills as a landscape of regional significance in June 2009.
What Ceres has not done is grow. The population was 212 in 1911 and 266 at the 2021 census, across 95 dwellings, essentially all of them freestanding houses on rural holdings. The National Trust describes the hills as open pastoral country with few houses and few trees, which is exactly what it still is.
The practical version for a Ceres owner: before you add anything substantial, it is worth knowing what your supply actually delivers at the house rather than at the pole. On a long run those are not the same number.
If there is a private pole on your land and it has not been looked at in a decade, it is worth including when we are out for something else. It is your asset and nobody else is checking it.
