Luke did a great job and was very flexible and understanding of our needs. He listened and was very helpful in explaining answers to our questions. I would highly recommend his work.

SPStephen PoorePosted on Google★★★★★

Luke was on time, considerate upon entering the house, and has a pleasant, friendly manner. He also gave excellent advice and suggestions/options for solving the problem, without "pushing" for one or the other. NEXTPOINT Electrics is to be highly recommended.

Luke at NextPoint was fantastic. Arrived on time both times he's done work, texted first to say he was on his way. Very quick, efficient and tidy with both jobs and a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend and will definitely use him again.

Electrician Barwon Heads FAQ

Do you actually cover Barwon Heads?

Yes. We are based in Ocean Grove, which is the other end of the bridge, so Barwon Heads is about as short a drive as we make. There is no call out fee and no distance loading.

Which parts of Barwon Heads do you cover?

All of it, the whole 3227 postcode, and the neighbouring towns with it. Nowhere in Barwon Heads is far enough from us to be worth charging you extra for.

How quickly can you get to Barwon Heads?

We are based in Ocean Grove, which is the other end of the bridge, so Barwon Heads is about as short a drive as we make. We do not promise a set response time, but you get a straight answer on the phone and a time on the day rather than an all day window.

Does being this close to the water change anything?

Outside, yes. Barwon Heads catches it from two directions, off the surf beach and up the river mouth, so even places a few streets back are in it. Salt corrodes metal and it does not need to be sea spray to do it: outdoor power points, light fittings, switchboard enclosures and the screws holding them up all age faster here than they do inland. What fails is usually the fixing or the seal rather than the fitting itself.

About Barwon Heads

Barwon Heads sits on the west bank of the Barwon River mouth, joined to Ocean Grove by the bridge and facing Bass Strait beyond it. It started as a fishing village, became a holiday town when Melbourne families began building here between the wars, and changed again after SeaChange was filmed in the town in the late nineties.

That history is written into the housing. Original beach houses and weatherboard cottages near the river, a long middle layer of holiday places that were later lived in year round, and newer building at the edges. A cottage that was a summer house for forty years often has wiring that was only ever asked to run a fridge and a couple of lamps.

The other thing about a river mouth and a surf beach on the same town is exposure. Anything mounted outside sits in salt air all year, so outdoor points, garden lighting, meter boxes and switchboard enclosures get specified for that rather than treated as an afterthought. What fails is usually the fixing or the seal rather than the fitting itself.

What that means in practice is that the two halves of Barwon Heads need different conversations. Near the river and the old golf course, the question is usually what is actually in the walls and whether the board has anything spare on it. On the newer blocks it is capacity: what the board will carry before a charger or a second split system goes on.

The other thing worth saying about a town this size is that everyone uses the same few trades. We are on the other side of the bridge rather than driving down from Melbourne for the day, so a callback is a callback rather than a scheduling problem.
