Electrical Repairs Geelong

What you pay for in a repair is rarely the part. It is the time spent working out which part it is, which is why the useful half of the visit happens before anything is unscrewed.

What we get called for

Faults We Are Called Out To Most

Most repair calls are a diagnosis problem rather than a parts problem. Finding it is the work.

A safety switch that keeps tripping

Something on that circuit is leaking to earth. The switch is doing its job, and turning it back on is not the answer.

Lights flickering or dropping out

Sometimes the fitting, often the connection behind it. Worth finding rather than living with.

Dead power points or a dead room

Usually one connection somewhere in a chain. Which one is the whole job.

Burning smell, heat or scorching

Turn it off at the board and ring. This is the one not to wait on.

Intermittent faults

The expensive one, because it has to be present to be found. We will tell you honestly what that means for the price.

Hot water, oven or appliance circuits

A dead appliance circuit is often the circuit rather than the appliance, and worth checking before you buy a new one.

Something tripping, flickering or dead? Ring and describe what happens and when. A lot can be narrowed down before we arrive.

Fixed price before we start

Every repair we do is tested before we leave and covered by our lifetime workmanship warranty on the work we carried out.

How we work

Our Process

  1. You ring and describe it

What is happening, when it started and what makes it happen. The more of that we have, the faster it gets found.

  2. We diagnose it

Testing to find the actual fault rather than replacing parts and hoping. You get told what it is before anything is repaired.

  3. We fix it and test it

The repair done, the circuit tested, and anything else we noticed shown to you rather than quietly left.

  4. Guaranteed for life

Our lifetime workmanship warranty covers the repair. If our work is not right we come back and put it right at no charge.

On every job, no exceptions

  • $0 Call out fee

We come out, look at it and price it. That visit costs you nothing.

  • Fixed Price before we start

One number, agreed before anything begins, GST stated. It does not move.

If our work is not right we come back and put it right at no charge. No expiry.

What customers say

Published on our Google Business Profile and reproduced word for word. The first of these mentions repair work specifically.

Luke did multiple jobs in my house. Fixed electrical points, fixed my smoke alarm, mounted and installed TVs. He was friendly, punctual and well priced. Would definitely use Luke again for future jobs in my home.

I had an absolute 5 star experience with Luke from NextPoint Electrics. After trying for many years to get my House Switchboard replaced and upgraded, when most other electricians either wouldn't do the work or quoted silly money because it was so involved... Finally I found an experienced and professional Sparky. Reasonably priced, excellent workmanship. I cannot recommend him more highly enough. One very happy customer!

Luke at NextPoint was fantastic. Arrived on time both times he's done work, texted first to say he was on his way. Very quick, efficient and tidy with both jobs and a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend and will definitely use him again.

Repair questions

Asked most often

Half my house has no power. Is that an emergency?

It is worth ringing straight away, but first check the switchboard. If one switch has tripped, that is a circuit fault and the rest of the house is safe. If nothing has tripped and half the house is dead, that can be a supply problem on the network side rather than inside your house, and it is worth looking at whether your neighbours have power too. Tell us what you find at the board when you ring, because it changes what we bring.

My safety switch keeps tripping. Can I just leave it off?

You can leave the affected circuit off to make the rest of the house usable, and that is often the sensible thing overnight. What you should not do is keep resetting it repeatedly, or bypass it. A safety switch trips because it has detected current going somewhere it should not, which in the worst case is through a person. The trip is the system working. Turn that circuit off, use the rest of the house, and get it looked at.

Can you find a fault without cutting holes in my walls?

Nearly always, yes. Most faults are found at accessible points: the switchboard, the fittings, the roof space, the sub-floor. Cutting into a wall is a last resort and it is not something that happens without asking you first and explaining why. If we ever get to that point you will hear the reasoning before anything is opened up, and you get to decide.

Do you cover my suburb for repairs?

Yes, anywhere within a short drive of Ocean Grove. That includes Ocean Grove, Leopold, Drysdale, Queenscliff and the rest of the list on the service areas page. For anything outside normal hours, see after-hours care, which sets out honestly what can and cannot be promised.

Still deciding? Ring and tell us what you have got, and we will tell you what it needs.
