We check the supply, the board, and where the battery can safely go. If it is different from expected, you hear the new price first.

Battery and inverter mounted and connected, backup circuits wired if you have chosen them, everything commissioned, tested and handed over working.

How to get it: at the next battery handover, once the system has run a full evening cycle and the customer has seen it working, ask for a review and mention the battery so the review says so. Send through the reviewer name and wording exactly as Google displays it and it replaces this block.

Asked most often
Can you get me the battery rebate?
No. The federal battery discount is facilitated by accredited retailers, and we are not one of those, so we cannot take it off your price. It is a meaningful amount of money and you should not give it up lightly. Where we are worth a call is if you are not eligible, if you want the install done properly by someone local who will still answer the phone afterwards, or if you already have a retailer and need a licensed electrician to do the work.
Will it keep the house running in a blackout?
Only if it is wired to, and usually only selected circuits rather than the whole house. Backup is a design decision made before the install, not a setting switched on afterwards, and it costs more because it needs a changeover arrangement and the circuits you want kept alive separated out. Decide early. Lights, fridge, internet and a couple of power points is the common choice, and it is a very different budget to running the air conditioning through an outage.
Do I need solar before I get a battery?
No, but the sums change a lot. With solar, the battery stores what you generate and would otherwise export for very little. Without solar, it can only shift cheap grid power into expensive hours, which works on some tariffs and not at all on others. Tell us your tariff and we will tell you honestly which of those you are looking at.
How long will a battery last?
That is a product question rather than an installation question, and the honest answer is that it depends entirely on which battery and how hard it is cycled. What we will do is tell you what the manufacturer actually warrants, in years and in throughput, and point out where a warranty is shorter than the payback period being quoted at you. Our lifetime warranty covers our workmanship, not the battery itself.
Do you install outside Ocean Grove itself?
Yes, anywhere within a short drive of Ocean Grove, which takes in Drysdale, Torquay, Wallington, St Leonards and Queenscliff, and the whole of Geelong. A photo of your switchboard with the cover on and a recent bill answer most of what we would otherwise need a visit for.
