Luke did a great job and was very flexible and understanding of our needs. He listened and was very helpful in explaining answers to our questions. I would highly recommend his work.

SPStephen PoorePosted on Google★★★★★

Luke was on time, considerate upon entering the house, and has a pleasant, friendly manner. He also gave excellent advice and suggestions/options for solving the problem, without "pushing" for one or the other. NEXTPOINT Electrics is to be highly recommended.

Luke at NextPoint was fantastic. Arrived on time both times he's done work, texted first to say he was on his way. Very quick, efficient and tidy with both jobs and a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend and will definitely use him again.

Electrical Work in Hamlyn Heights

Why Hamlyn Heights locals choose us

You Deserve an Electrician You Can Actually Trust

One era, one sort of house

Most of this suburb went up across two decades to a broadly similar pattern. When houses repeat, so do their problems, and that makes for a quicker and more certain diagnosis than a street where everything is different.

Electrician Hamlyn Heights FAQ

Do you actually cover Hamlyn Heights?

Yes. We come up through Geelong from Ocean Grove, and no part of it carries a distance loading. There is no call out fee and no distance loading.

Which parts of Hamlyn Heights do you cover?

All of it, the whole 3215 postcode, and the neighbouring towns with it. Across the whole of it out to the ring road, none of it far enough away to charge you extra for.

How quickly can you get to Hamlyn Heights?

We come up through Geelong from Ocean Grove, and no part of it carries a distance loading. We do not promise a set response time, but you get a straight answer on the phone and a time on the day rather than an all day window.

Is there anything particular about the housing here?

Its consistency. Hamlyn Heights was named in the 1940s and developed mainly through the 1950s and 60s, and it has grown by roughly two hundred people every five years for twenty years without a spike or a plateau. At the 2021 census about 84 per cent of dwellings were freestanding houses and barely half a per cent were flats. So this is the most uniformly single-era, single-type housing of any Geelong suburb we cover, which means the questions that come up here are fairly predictable: a board sized for a 1960s household, and what it will carry now.

About Hamlyn Heights

Hamlyn Heights takes its name from Sidney Hamlyn, a local resident, and was named in the 1940s. Before that the notable building was Glenpanyal on Glengate Street, a two-storey Victorian Gothic Revival house of 1859 that is on the Victorian Heritage Register, with its first rooms built a decade earlier by the early settler David Coghill.

The suburb itself is post-war. Residential development happened primarily through the 1950s and 1960s, and the Vines Road post office opened in February 1959, which date-stamps the main shopping strip.

Its position is the other defining thing. It sits on elevated ground with views east across Corio Bay and north toward the You Yangs, and the built-up area ends hard at the Princes Freeway and ring road, with open countryside, market gardens and the Moorabool River beyond it.

The growth has been unusually steady: roughly 5,600 people in 2001 and about 6,500 by 2021, adding around two hundred each census with no spike. At the 2021 census about 84 per cent of dwellings were freestanding houses, around 15 per cent units and townhouses, and well under one per cent flats. It is the largest of the inner north-western suburbs.

The practical version for a Hamlyn Heights owner: if the house is from the fifties or sixties and the board has never been changed, start there. What you can add afterwards depends on it.

If a neighbour has had similar work done, mention it. In a suburb built this uniformly, what they found is a fair guide.
