Luke did a great job and was very flexible and understanding of our needs. He listened and was very helpful in explaining answers to our questions. I would highly recommend his work.

SPStephen PoorePosted on Google★★★★★

Luke was on time, considerate upon entering the house, and has a pleasant, friendly manner. He also gave excellent advice and suggestions/options for solving the problem, without "pushing" for one or the other. NEXTPOINT Electrics is to be highly recommended.

Luke at NextPoint was fantastic. Arrived on time both times he's done work, texted first to say he was on his way. Very quick, efficient and tidy with both jobs and a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend and will definitely use him again.

Electrician Portarlington FAQ

Do you actually cover Portarlington?

Yes. We are based in Ocean Grove and come up over the top of the peninsula, so there is no travel time on the bill and no distance loading. There is no call out fee and no distance loading.

Which parts of Portarlington do you cover?

All of it, the whole 3223 postcode, and the neighbouring towns with it. Nowhere in Portarlington is far enough from us to be worth charging you extra for.

How quickly can you get to Portarlington?

We are based in Ocean Grove and come up over the top of the peninsula, so there is no travel time on the bill and no distance loading. We do not promise a set response time, but you get a straight answer on the phone and a time on the day rather than an all day window.

Does being this close to the water change anything?

Outside, yes. Portarlington faces Port Phillip and gets it year round, which is why the seals on outdoor gear here are worth paying attention to. Salt corrodes metal and it does not need to be sea spray to do it: outdoor power points, light fittings, switchboard enclosures and the screws holding them up all age faster here than they do inland. What fails is usually the fixing or the seal rather than the fitting itself.

About Portarlington

Portarlington sits about 28 km from Geelong on the north side of the Bellarine, facing Port Phillip, with the ferry running direct to Melbourne. It was a grain port in the nineteenth century and is now a seaside town with a working mussel industry and a lot of people who came here to retire or to get out of the city.

A town that has drawn retirees and sea changers for decades ends up with a particular housing mix: original cottages near the front, a long run of mid-century and seventies building behind them, and newer places filling in around the edges. The middle layer is where most of the switchboard work is.

It is a bay-facing town and the exposure is real. Outdoor points, garden and sensor lighting, meter boxes and switchboard enclosures all sit in salt air year round, so they get specified for it rather than treated as an afterthought.

The practical version for a Portarlington owner: the middle layer of the town, the mid-century and seventies housing, is where the switchboard work is. If your house is from that period and nothing has been done to the board, that is the place to start.

A lot of people here have moved from Melbourne or come back to retire, and inherit a house whose electrical history nobody can tell them. We would rather open the board and tell you what is actually there than quote from the outside.
